Same brownie recipe, bake 1/2 batter for 20 minutes. Poke brownie and pour 1/2 can condensed milk, chopped caramel, nuts, and top with remaining brownie batter. Top with more almonds. Bake for 30 minutes. Side note, substitute brown sugar for half of the granulated sugar.

Still working on brownies
So, same recipe, using 1/2 cup butter and half brown sugar. Added walnuts, marshmallows, and chocolate chips. I think this recipe is a good basic brownie recipe which is forgiving to whatever else you want to add. The marshmallows give a little extra chewiness. Yum!

Random grumbling
People, if I tell you that I don't like you, you should take it personally. It's not about race, religion, or anything like that. It simply means that you fail as a decent individual in my book.

Thank the brownie goddess!
Lovely brownie goddess set me straight. Need to bake brownies in a cookie sheet for that chewy cake goodness. Round 3 is in the oven, same recipe as before but I added some walnuts and chocolate chips. Fingers crossed!

Brownies - take 2
Take two on the brownie recipe, in search of that sweet spot between dense cake and chewy num nums. Made the below modifications, except using 5 eggs... A little too cakey but a definite improvement over the gritty granulated sugar feel of the previous recipe. Dropping the temp also helped ensure and even bake...
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the egg mixture until well blended. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes.

In search of the perfect brownie
Tried this today, thinking about using some brown sugar next time to offset the white sugar, possibly some butter for flavor depth, and maybe and extra egg for additional cakiness. Other than that though, it is a good basic brownie recipe. Must find a perfect brownie pan, arguing with the fam for the corner pieces.
